Audsley and Irwin equate this name with Sanftgedeckt. Locher considers it synonymous with Wienerflöte and Zartflöte. According to Wedgwood, it is synonymous with Vienna Flute, Flauto Amabile, and Lieblichflöte.
Only two examples of Sanftflöte are known.

Sanftflöte 4', Hauptwerk; Luitpoldhalle, Nürnberg, Germany; Walcker 1936 (destroyed).
