Groben Principal German

Mentioned only in passing by Adlung, who writes:

At Bernau in the Mark [Brandenburg] Jule is reported to be the Quinte of the Groben Principal [16'], and thus a 6', since the [ordinary] Principal is at 8'; see Praetorius[, p. 177].

The word groben may indicate loud tone, 16' pitch, or both.
